Quincy Village Retirement Community

Generosity in Action

Quincy Village is fortunate to have residents, families, volunteers and staff who are committed to ensuring and enhancing the quality of life for all residents at every level of service – now and in the future.

Gifts to Quincy Village over the years have been as varied as the people we serve and have been made directly to a special project or to the Benevolent Care Fund.  Our new living room project in the Colestock Health Center, for example, was primarily funded through donations from residents.  Other activities, such as Project Christmas and the new courtyard on our memory support unit, where we provide skilled nursing services and therapy to those with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of memory impairment, were generously provided by the community at large and a grant from the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.

In addition, financial gifts that enable us to continue providing care for residents who have outlived their resources are critical to our mission. No one has ever been asked to leave the Presbyterian Senior Living system of care because they had outlived their resources. This means if a person does not divest or give away assets, we have an unwavering history of keeping our commitment to the people we serve.  In fact, Quincy Village provided $2,308,309 for uncompensated care in 2010.

If you or a loved one have benefited in any way from our services, we invite you to consider extending the gift of quality care and quality of life in any number of ways.

Memorial and Outstanding Service Gifts

  • Commemorating a life through a memorial gift:

    • An increasing number of people are suggesting donations to Quincy Village in lieu of flowers.
    • Others are contributing assets that are no longer needed such as life insurance or retirement account balances.
  • Acknowledging Outstanding Service by a member or specific members of our staff or volunteers by making a donation in their name.

Our Wish List

  • Donating toward an item on our “Wish List,” which fall under several categories:

Dining Services

  • Funds to purchase commercial grade food service equipment to include blenders, beverage dispensers, immersion mixers, chaffers, carts, dollies and heat lamps.  These items range in price from $32.00 to $600.

Fitness

  • Portable resistance chair and related equipment to use in the fitness room as well as in people's homes for preventative and rehab exercise. The chair, exercise bike and shoulder stretcher attachments would cost about $700.

Colestock.

  • Three AED (Automatic External Defibrillators) - $1,500 each.
  • Nursing has asked for several cushy stationary and mobile recliners. Some of the chairs provide a partial reclining position as well as a lift-out position to safely aid in standing and exiting the chair. The Reclina-Rockers offers a durable rocker and numerous reclining positions with armrest that assist residents in getting in and out of the chair.  The mobility chairs provide advanced positioning (tilt and recline) and accessories which afford the resident the freedom to leave their rooms to participate in activities and socialization. These chairs range in price from $550 to $2,300.
  • Four mobile automated Vital Sign Monitoring machines with pulse oximetry, BP cuff, and temperature probe - $2,800 each.

As with every not-for-profit organization, we rely on the compassionate support of our residents and their families and friends, as well as the contributions provided by countless other organizations committed to the care of the elderly. There are always needs to be filled and services that require financing beyond internal budgetary capabilities, so we are dedicated in continuing our work to raise the funds needed to fulfill our mission at every level, down to every last resident at Quincy Village.

Our Donors & Their Stories

We often measure the depth of donor commitment by the number of people served and the millions of dollars applied to support our mission. But the real story is how gifts to Quincy Village have affected the quality of life for our residents. We are proud to share those stories and to highlight the true impact that donor support has on others.
